Why does a mechanical engineer’s salary remain low compared to IT/software/computer engineers?

Reason is somewhat complicated but i will try to explain in simole manner.

Very few companies are doing reaserch work in this field to make new technology and machine since it is too costly in India to do as compared to import it from other countries and get assembled it in India . So there is very low need and demand of mechanical engineers. So their is simple law , low demand low cost . Whereas other fields like IT sector we do everything infact we are good exporter of this field having great demand ,high cost.

But time is going to change ,I Think so as now country and its people think to be self dependent country (aatmah nirbhar) ,so they will invest in mechanical field research and development sector to construct our own machinery . So there is hope , scenario will change and mechanical engineer will get good package in coming years.

Government College fees are less(approx 50-80 K) but have a great demand and cutoffs also always get higher and higher. Tables provides the approx.
