Poornima Seetharaman, a game developer, entrepreneur, the leading lady behind ‘Farmville 2’, and a gamer herself, has entered the Global Hall of Fame for Women In Gaming.
Poornima Seetharaman is the first Indian in the 'Games Hall of Fame'
Ms. Seetharaman has been an active part of the Indian as well as the global gaming industry since the year 2006. With over 15 years of experience, she has worked with big names like Indiagames (Disney India) [where she worked on Bioshock Mobile], Jumpstart (NetDragon), GSN Games, Square Enix, and others. She is currently part of the Zynga family as their Lead Game Design and is also the Women in Games Ambassador at WIGJ and in the process of setting up a Womxn in Games community for India. She has worked across a variety of genres including casual gaming, free-to-play games, first-person shooters, role-playing games, massively multiplayer online games, virtual casino games, and augmented reality games. She has curated, judged, and spoken at TEDx, Pocket Gamer Connects, and other design festivals and conferences. She is also a mentor for Google India’s Indie Game Accelerator.
Education : BE (IT) From Pillai College of Engineering in Year 2005.
About her background:
Poornima has been part of the gaming industry since 2006 and has worked with some of the best names in the Indian gaming industry, including Indiagames (Disney India), Jumpstart (NetDragon), GSN Games, Square Enix etc.
She chose game design as her career completely out of her passion for games and translated that passion further by co-founding Pinaka Interactive (a game design studio) and Namma Lore Entertainment (a game development studio).
She currently works as one of the lead game designers for Zynga.
Poornima believes in using the power of gaming to create a meaningful and impactful change in thinking. She has worked across a wide variety of genres, including casual games, free to play games, FPS, RPG, MMO, social casino and augmented reality.
She was one of the founding members of the Special Interest Group on Women In Games with the India Gaming Forum (formerly, NASSCOM Gaming Forum) and a part of the content team for the India Game Developer Conference. She is also one of the Ambassadors at WIGJ.
Poornima is also visiting faculty, project consultant and curriculum committee member at the National Institute of Design. She has curated, judged and spoken at various design festivals and conferences. She is also one of the mentors of Google’s Indie Game Accelerator, India.
